What is the iRacing V8 Supercars Championship?
The iRacing.com V8 Supercars Official Online Series is the online equivalent to the real life V8 Supercars Championship. It is officially sanctioned by V8 Supercars, running four seasons a year using iRacing.com's racing simulation software.
iRacing is one of the world's premier racing simulations for the PC. A web-based, fully supported and fully sanctioned online racing system allows anyone from the casual gamer to the professional real-life driver to compete against others season-to-season, in a variety of cars on many real-world tracks, all laser-scanned for a perfect reproduction.
Drivers in the iRacing.com series drive a full laser-scanned reproduction of a Ford Performance Racing Ford Falcon FG V8 Supercar. The scanned car is chassis FPR-808 as used by Paul Dumbrell in the 2009 season and later used by David Reynolds and Chaz Mostert. The virtual reproduction of the car has been developed in co-operation with FPR and real V8 Supercar drivers Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin to create, in their view, the most realistic representation of a V8 Supercar currently available on the PC.
Races can be run at almost any time of the day, but the biggest race of the week is Monday nights at 9:15pm AEDT. The races are broadcast live on YouTube by the crew at v8sonline, and the excitement and quality of racing is on the same level as the real life series.
And the best thing is, you can get involved in the action, too!
