JASON Bright is the first to admit that season 2011 lacked consistency for Team BOC. In May at Perth's Barbagallo Raceway he handed Brad Jones Racing its first ever V8 Supercar race win after 337 championship starts, and backed that up with another win at Winton two weeks later.
But mid-season the team and driver lost their way and struggled to make up ground from several poor qualifying efforts - an area Bright has vowed to improve on in the 2012 season.
Championship Position: 16th
Best Result: 1st (Perth, Winton)
Best Qualifying: 2nd (Perth)
What is your highlight of this season?
Winning at Winton and taking Jase Richards up onto the podium. That was definitely the highlight, to have him there when we won. I hoped we could have done it a few more times during the year.
What is your funniest moment from this season?
Having a head-on collision with Gianni Morbidelli on the Gold Coast – not so funny, but certainly different!
What are you getting up to during the off-season break?
I've been away on holidays for three and a half weeks. We went to Mexico, then did some snow skiing in Colorado for Christmas, and spent New Years Eve in New York.
What was the race that got away from you this year?
I think we could have won both races in Perth. We had the pace but we lost out on one of the pitstops in the second race.
New Years Resolution?
To qualify better.
2011 Rating out of 10?
I think we were a 6. We had good race pace on most occasions and a couple of very good rounds but our qualifying speed was nowhere near where it needed to be.
