JUMPING from Holden to Ford after the season-opening event in Abu Dhabi promised much for Tony D’Alberto and Wilson Security Racing, and on occasions there were glimmers of form.

But the former Fujitsu Series champion still endured a frustrating season, one that he’s keen to change in 2012.

Championship Position: 26th
Best Race Result: 6th (Hidden Valley)
Best Qualifying: 5th (Hidden Valley, Symmons Plains)

What is your highlight of 2011?

Probably Bathurst where Dale Wood and I finished in the top 10. Last year we didn’t finish and I had the chicken pox and missed Phillip Island so it nice to come back and get that result.

What is your funniest moment from 2011?

At the Gold Coast when Tonio Liuzzi was over (F1 driver) for the Queensland Raceway test. He wandered over to the passenger door of the car to get in on the left hand side!

What are you getting up to during the off-season break?

Not a lot, I’ve got a few weddings on actually in January. One in Sydney, which is actually Michael Caruso’s, and then one in Perth. That will be about it, nothing really planned for holidays!

What was the race that got away from you this year?

Sunday in Hamilton, we were going OK and then I fenced it.

New Year’s Resolution?

Try and save some money!

2012 Goal?

Try and get onto the damn podium!

2011 Rating out of 10?

About a 5. It was a year well below our expectations.
