BRAD Jones Racing has confirmed its endurance race line-up for the Sandown 500 in September and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in October.

Team BOC’s Jason Bright will again be joined by Andrew Jones, while new signing Fabian Coulthard will pair with David Besnard in the Lockwood Racing Commodore.

Reigning V8 Ute Series Champion Chris Pither will also make a return to V8 Supercar racing, sharing the #21 Wilson Security Commodore with David Wall.

“I’ve never been in the situation I was last year before, where I wasn’t sure whether I’d be driving with Brighty or not (because of Jason Richards’ illness) and I’ll never be in that situation again I hope,” said Jones, who finished fifth at Bathurst last with year Bright.

“Sharing a car with Brighty after his couple of wins was very enjoyable, especially at Bathurst where I felt like the whole team pulled together.

“We didn’t really have the fastest car out there; we didn’t even really have a car good enough to finish fifth, but that’s where we finished and it was a true team effort.”

For Pither, Bathurst this year will be his first time in the V8 Supercar classic since an infamous practice accident with Team Kiwi in 2008 – when he ploughed into the side of the stationary Paul Weel on top of the Mountain.

“I’ve done a couple of V8 Supercar sprint rounds as well as the endurance rounds in ‘07 and ‘08 for PMM and Team Kiwi, but I’ve been out of it for a few years,” he says.

I had a nasty accident in ’08 and spent a few months out of the seat but now I’m looking forward to getting back into it.”

Besnard drove last year for Jim Beam Racing but hit the headlines for his crash at Griffins Bend, which resulted in his Falcon exploding into flames.

“I’m really looking forward to competing with the BJR guys,” says the 2007 and 2008 Bathurst podium finisher.

“I’ve always had a lot of respect for Kim and Brad. It goes way back with my Dad racing against them in Formula Ford days so there’s a family connection.

“I’ve always admired how they go about their business and that was reaffirmed at this week’s test day. I was very pleased with the amount of laps I got and I really enjoyed it; I was comfortable straight up.”
