TRADINGPOST FPR Falcon driver Will Davison says he will be a contender for the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship – and has marked his first race win with the team as his first goal of the new season.
Davison and Ford Performance Racing today unveiled the #6 Tradingpost Falcon that he’ll drive this year.
The 2009 Bathurst winner, who finished seventh in last year’s championship in his debut year with FPR, says that having the same car, engineer (Grant McPherson) and a stable environment gives him confidence heading to the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
“I have never been more optimistic heading into a race season as I genuinely believe in our ability to be contenders from the first race of the year,” Davison said.
“We worked very hard last year to improve our ability to have a car that is strong no matter what tyres we use or what sort of circuit we race on. I plan to put all that effort into winning races. Once we get our first I have a feeling we can keep the ball rolling.
“I always enjoy pulling the covers off a new car at the start of the season and the new livery looks great. The car really stands out. It looks cool.”
FPR Team Principal Tim Edwards believes the stability around Davison will help him thrive in the upcoming season.
“Will enjoyed a great first year with us and I know nobody was more annoyed than himself that he wasn’t able to win a race,” Edwards said.
“He performs at his best when he has the support of everyone around him and after he established those relationships last year we saw his form get better and better.
“Once he records his first win I can honestly see him becoming a regular fixture at the head of the field.”
Davison’s factory Falcon carries additional Tradingpost branding this year in the form of the company’s ‘Good as Gone Guarantee’ – a promise to refund the cost of a customer’s advertisement if the goods they place on Tradingpost.com.au are not sold within four weeks.
