THE opening round of the newly renamed Dunlop Series in Adelaide next weekend has attracted a strong field of 26 cars with a range of familiar and new faces.

The reigning champion team – Triple Eight Race Engineering – will give Aussie international Scott Pye his first taste of V8 Supercar racing in Adelaide, while a range of other moves have been made in the off-season.

The updates on the 2012 field include:

* David Russell and Cameron Waters to drive for Kelly Racing offshoot – DT Racing.

* Nick Percat retains Coates Hire backing and steps up into a newer Walkinshaw Commodore.

* 2004 series champion Andrew Jones to again compete in a Team BOC Commodore.

* Tim Blanchard remains with MW Motorsport but now has a newer ex-FPR FG model Falcon.

* Marcus Zukanovic joins Greg Murphy Racing to race alongside Geoff Emery with a space vacant in the remaining #45 Commodore.

* Sonic Motor Racing have Rodney Jane return and are yet to confirm their second driver.

* Chaz Mostert returns with Ford Performance Racing, driving the car used by Will Davison to take pole on Sunday last year at the Clipsal 500.

* Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport will run its ex-Walkinshaw VE Commodore in Adelaide for Kristian Lindbom.

* Novacastrian Motorsport expands to three cars with brothers Drew and Aaren Russell joined by V8 Touring Car driver Michael Hector.

* Matt Stone Racing expands to two cars with Daniel Jilesen and Ash Walsh signing for 2012. Walsh will drive the ex-Fujitsu BF Falcon used last year by Scott McLaughlin.

* McLaughlin himself will return with a Fujitsu-backed and Stone Brothers Racing-run FG Falcon.

* Nandi Kiss joins the series from the V8 Utes in an ex-PWR Commodore.

* Formula Ford driver Elliot Barbour joins the series in an ex-Garry Rogers Motorsport Commodore with Minda Motorsport.

Again the two-race format will be in play in Adelaide, with Race 2 to be shown as part of the Seven Network’s coverage of the Clipsal 500 on Saturday March 3.

Aaron Noonan returns for the sixth straight season to call the action in the Dunlop Series with Neil Crompton to join him with expert comments for the telecast race.
