Triple F Racing has made leaps and bounds in the off-season to get further up the grid in its third V8 Supercar Championship.
The team will run the same Triple Eight built Falcon it ran in last year’s Championship and is seeking more support from the engineering outfit.
Triple F Racing has also moved into a new workshop and changed its engineering structure.
“As a team we are trying to do everything we can and put everything in place to move further up the grid and be further up the grid more often,” team owner/driver Dean Fiore said.
“Last year we had some good results but we were inconsistent so we’re doing some things in the background to improve.”
Triple F Racing has moved a few kays down the road on the Gold Coast from its original Arundel workshop to sublease a warehouse in Moldendinar.
“We have just moved workshops to make everything more efficient when the car gets back (from a V8 Supercar event),” he said.
“We want to make the facility our own so we can keep it nice, clean, crisp and simple and be a place where you can bring sponsors over and do functions over at the workshop.
“We’re also trying to get some support from Triple Eight; we had none last year and are trying to get more support.”
Triple F Racing is still on the hunt for a new engineer but has retained Lindsay Thompson as the team’s number one mechanic and Chris Seidel as the number two mechanic.
“We’ve put on our second mechanic fulltime because our number two was remote and based in Adelaide. Chris moved to the Gold Coast and that’s already working well,” Fiore said.
“I don’t have a naming-rights sponsor locked in yet but most of my associate partners are.
“Bing Lee and Panasonic were fantastic last year and they haven’t committed to anything at this stage but they might come back on board mid-year.”
Fiore said he hasn’t taken stock of what the team has achieved in the short time it has been in the sport.
“I am proud but it’s like anyone that wants to succeed in a difficult sport, you’re not happy with what you have accomplished; unless your standing on the podium you’re not happy,” he said.
“Everything is going okay in terms of where we are at and what we’ve done but we’ve got to look towards the future.
“I’m reasonably happy with how everything is going but I want to do better and if you get the results on track the sponsorship looks after itself.”
Fiore’s goal is for Triple F Racing to consistently be in the top 15 in 2011.
“I think that’s achievable,” he said. “We’re doing everything in the background to make things happen.
“It’s so bloody tough out there as everybody knows. Look at PD (Paul Dumbrell), he won at Sandown and then in qualifying at Homebush he was at the back.
“It’s just the way the Championship is, being so close, so if we can consistently finish in the top 15 that would be great.”
