Daniel Gaunt is in the running to co-drive the Castrol Edge Commodore with Tim Blanchard if Greg Murphy's back injury keeps him from competing in the L&H 500.

NASCAR commitments have kept Boris Said from taking part in the L&H 500 so Daniel Gaunt is the driver likely to take Greg Murphy’s spot for the first enduro.
Murph is likely to miss the L&H 500 after having back surgery recently to fix a slipped disc and Paul Morris Motorsports is looking for a replacement to co-drive the Castrol Edge Commodore at Phillip Island.
Paul Morris offered the seat to Boris Said, who raced with the team at Phillip Island and Bathurst in 2008, but the race in Montreal last weekend stopped him from taking part in a crucial test at Queensland Raceway tomorrow (Tuesday).
“I offered Boris the opportunity, but he had a commitment to race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in Montreal on the weekend,” Morris explained.
“He won, so it looks like he made the right decision!
“He’s still very keen on coming over and there’s the possibility of running him in a driver evaluation day later this week, but tomorrow’s test is fairly crucial.
“We’ll wait and see how tomorrow goes and also give Murph every possible chance to recover in time.”
Daniel Gaunt, who drove the Gulf Western Oil Commodore until the Skycity Triple Crown at Darwin, tests for the team tomorrow and is likely to take Murph’s spot.
“Daniel has raced V8s all year, he finished every race and he’s more than capable of doing a good job for the team in difficult circumstances, so he’d be hard to go past if he has a good test,” Morris said.
