BRAD Jones Racing has unveiled Lockwood as the naming rights sponsor of Fabian Coulthard’s #14 Commodore for the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship.

Announced today at a function in Melbourne, the lock and security products company joins BOC (Jason Bright, #8) and Wilson Security (David Wall, #21) as a backer of one of three BJR entries in this year’s championship.

“They were a smaller sponsor with us and have stepped up this year, which is really good,” said team co-owner Brad Jones.

“They are very pro-active, which is exciting, and there’s lots of good things going on around the race meetings and off-track that they will be involved with.

“It’s always great to have a sponsor with passion and drive to activate their program and I think that will be the car with Lockwood.

“They’ve put their toe in the water in 2011 to have a look around and now they’re going to step up as a major sponsor.”

Jones believes the addition of Kiwi Coulthard to his Albury-based team will make it a strong outfit.

“Once Fabian gets all settled in, I think we’re going to be pretty strong,” he says.

“The reason we chose Fabian was because he showed really good speed when he was at Cruickshank’s (Paul Cruickshank Racing in 2008/2009) and I’m sure that’s what Walkinshaw Racing saw in him.

“He’s had a character building year in 2010 and then last year he was quite successful with WR. I think it would be very difficult at WR to not be in the main team (Holden Racing Team).

“He did a stellar job in 2011 considering where he started. For all of those reasons I think he will be a good fit here at BJR.”

Coulthard will get to sample his #14 Lockwood Commodore for the first time at the official Sandown Test and Launch Day in Melbourne on Saturday February 11.
