THE Holden Racing Team has unveiled the warpaint that drivers Garth Tander and James Courtney will carry in the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship.
The pair of factory Commodores (Tander in #2, Courtney in #22) will feature the addition of gold this year, as well as gold wheels to compliment the livery re-design.
“Peter Hughes and Holden Design have done it again, not only meeting the design brief but exceeding expectations,” said 2007 V8 Supercars champion Tander.
“The new look is fantastic – unmistakably HRT, but also bold and intimidating.
“It also reflects the commitment to realise the results of our hard work and to not just be representatives of HRT, but also contributors to its legacy.”
2010 V8 Supercar Champion, James Courtney, who endured a difficult first half to season 2011 after winning in Abu Dhabi, said he believed the team would capitalise on its development work.
“I love the new look of our HRT Commodores – they’re loud, have attitude and show we mean business,” Courtney said.
“The first half of 2011 was tough, but we made changes within the team, put our heads down and got to work.
“We had a strong finish to the year. We showed improving car speed, Garth [and Nick Percat] won Bathurst, and we were among the highest points scorers in the second half."
Toll again return as a sponsor of HRT, though not as the naming rights backer and the team will revert to its regular title of ‘Holden Racing Team’ for 2012.
Mobil return for 19th straight season with HRT having been onboard since joining with the late Peter Brock in 1994, while Coates Hire increases its involvement with the team and features more predominantly.
The company will also continue its arrangement sponsoring Walkinshaw Racing driver Nick Percat in the V8 Supercars Development Series.
Continental Tyres is a new backer for 2012 and features on the lip of the front spoiler.
The Holden Racing Team is launching its season in two stages with a corporate season launch to follow on February 16.
It’s then when new team CEO Steve Hallam will be formally introduced.
