Karl Reindler is looking forward to his first run at Tasmania's Symmons Plains Raceway in a V8 Supercar no matter what the weather conditions.
The Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing driver believes that the rain forecast for the weekend will level the playing field between he and his more experienced rivals.
Reindler has just one previous start at Symmons Plains, with his Rookie of the Year Australian Formula 3 season in 2003 taking in the 2.41km circuit.
Dunlop's 'Sprint' tyre also makes a return this weekend, with drivers given one set of the softer compound rubber for Saturday's 120km race, and a second set for Sunday's longer, 200km affair.
"Looking at the weather forecasts, it's got the potential to be a very exciting weekend of racing," said Reindler
"It'd be preferable if it stays dry, for the fan's sake, but for us, the rain can act as a real leveller against some of the bigger and more experienced teams.
"The soft tyre really suits my driving style, which gives us confidence, but if we're potentially switching between dry and wet tyres anyway, it's very hard to predict where everyone will end up.
"I've been told that there's a lot of grip available here even in the wet, so everyone will be still pushing on pretty hard even if it looks treacherous.
"With 29 cars on such a short circuit, it won't take us long to dry the track up if we do get a shower or two anyway.
"So we could have one of those days where you're forever chasing the right tyres to be on at a given moment."
Reindler enters Races 21 and 22 of the V8 Supercar Championship in season-best form, having taken his first top ten finish last time out on the Gold Coast.
The 25 year old West Australian is also in top physical form, having completed the 'Sydney to the Gong MS Bike Ride' last weekend, where Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing raised $8,000 for the charity.
