Australia’s top Freestyle Motorcross rider Matt ‘Schuie’ Schubring had fans looking skyward when he launched himself over Stone Brothers Racing’s SP Tools Transporter at the Queensland Raceway drag strip this morning.

Coming from a BMX background "Schuie" is known as an innovator and has mastered some of the biggest tricks in FMX with incredible style and execution – which was clearly demonstrated today.

Watching on was his good mate and SP Tools Racing driver Shane van Gisbergen, who was taking a break from testing duties at the circuit next door.

“That was pretty cool,” van Gisbergen said.

“We’ve been trying to make this happen for a while now and so when I took Matt for a spin in my V8 Supercar at our ride day last week it clicked that our calendars were both free this week and that we’d have the truck out here for our test day so it finally all fell into place,” he said.

“Everyone would know that I’m pretty keen on my bikes and love belting around but Matt literally takes it to another level – I doubt Ross and Jimmy would let me have a shot at something like this but it would definitely be fun,” van Gisbergen grinned.

Schubring and van Gisbergen share the same sponsor in SP Tools, who put together today’s daring stunt.

“Shane says I make this look easy but that’s exactly what he does on four wheels,” Schubring said.

“I’ve done a bit of Rally driving in recent times which I really enjoy but to get behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar - and drive it half decently - would probably be stretching the dream a bit I think,” he added.

Van Gisbergen and the rest of the SBR Team will return to Queensland Raceway for the Ipswich 300 on August 19.
