Stone Brothers Racing has confirmed its driver lineup for the L&H 500 and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 endurance races later this year.
David Brabham will re-join Alex Davison in the #4 IRWIN Tools Falcon; Kiwi John McIntyre returns alongside Shane van Gisbergen in the #9 SP Tools entry and Kiwi Daniel Gaunt will pair with Tim Slade in the #47 Lucky 7 Falcon.
Brabham and McIntyre’s inclusion means the team takes the same driver combinations in the #4 and #9 cars for this year’s assault on Phillip Island and Bathurst as they did in 2010.
Brabham and Davison finished 10th at the L&H 500 and 13th at Bathurst last year, while the Kiwi pairing of McIntyre and van Gisbergen finished 27th and 21st respectively.
Gaunt is no stranger to the SBR team either – he drove with McIntyre in 2009 in the team’s second car but sat on the sidelines for last year’s endurance races after losing his driver with Gulf Western Oil Racing mid-season.
Team Principal Ross Stone says he’s happy with the continuity his team has been able to create for the endurance races.
“We’ve got three drivers who have recent knowledge of the team and I think that’s an important consideration heading into these big races,” Stone said.
“David’s credentials are world class, John did a great job for us last year and was rewarded with his first V8 Supercar podium finishes on the Gold Coast and Daniel has shown his ability in a range of cars in a variety of series.”
Last year Brabham also raced with Davison at the Armor All Gold Coast 600, but is ineligible to compete as SBR’s international driver again this year under new rules which do not permit a co-driver to race in all three endurance events.
All three SBR cars are at Queensland Raceway today conducting a full day of testing, however none of the endurance signings are in attendance.
