TEKNO Autosports has confirmed Western Australian Michael Patrizi as the driver of its #91 Commodore for the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship.

The deal was announced this afternoon at Queensland Raceway and will see Patrizi team up with Jonathon Webb, who will drive the team’s #19 Commodore.

Patrizi, who last year raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup – and won the Bathurst round - returns to a full-time V8 Supercars Championship seat for the first time since he drove with Paul Cruickshank Racing in 2009.

He drove for the Ford Rising Stars Racing squad in 2008 after making his debut in Hamilton and has 30 V8SC event starts and 62 race starts under his belt.

For the last two years he’s served as Dean Fiore’s endurance co-driver in the Triple F Racing Falcon. The duo finished 20th at Bathurst last year.

“I am thrilled to have secured the drive with Tekno alongside Jonathon for the season,” said Patrizi, whose best V8 Supercar race finish remains ninth at Symmons Plains in 2009.

“The team has big plans both on and off the track this year, particularly transitioning into a two Holden team. I’m stoked to be given the opportunity to be a part of such an exciting team.”

Perry Kapper, who last year worked with James Moffat at Jim Beam Racing, will engineer Patrizi this season.

Patrizi will drive a Triple Eight-designed car raced last season in VIP Petfoods colours by Steve Owen at Paul Morris Motorsports.

Webb, meanwhile, will drive a brand new Triple Eight-designed car, which will make its racing debut at the Clipsal 500 in March. It was shaken down today by the team at Queensland Raceway.

The team will run an interim livery at this weekend’s official launch/test day at Sandown in Melbourne.

It incorporates QR (Quick Response) codes in the design. Fans can scan the code featured on the cars using a smartphone and can register to win a prize package, including tickets to the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600, flights and accommodation for two.
