TICKETS have gone on sale for the 2012 ITM400 Hamilton street race in New Zealand with Kiwi V8 aces Greg Murphy and 2011 race winner Shane van Gisbergen reckoning next year’s event will be the best yet.
The event, to be held on the Hamilton street circuit that winds its way around the Frankton business district, will also feature a Saturday night concert headlined by INXS with new lead singer Ciaran Gribbin from Belfast.
V8 Supercars are also providing improved viewing and have held ticket prices at the 2011 level for next year’s three-day event.
Ticket pricing has been held at the already reduced level of the 2011 event with a three-day general admission ticket priced at just $105, a three-day flexi grandstand ticket at only $135 and the three-day grandstand ticket from a low $159.
Murphy, while not achieving the same level of success in Hamilton as he did with four round wins at the Pukekohe circuit in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005, loves racing around the demanding and spectacular Hamilton street circuit.
"The ITM400 Hamilton is a fantastic event and the Kiwis are out to kick the Aussies in the butt being in our last event here,” Murphy said.
“This race is one that not just those from the Waikato should be unbelievably proud of but so should all Kiwis.
“It is a cracking track, fantastic racing and a rocking atmosphere. For the modest price of a ticket, people can experience firsthand what a world class event is all about.”
Hamilton will always be a special place for Kiwis Ross and Jim Stone and their Stone Brothers Racing team. They achieved a breakthrough win on home soil in Hamilton last year when their young Kiwi star van Gisbergen won the Mark Porter Trophy.
“Hamilton was my first race win, the best day of my career so far,” says the up-and-coming V8 Supercar superstar.
“It’s an event all the drivers love: the track is such great fun, the event is really well managed and shows off Hamilton to the world. I will really miss the place and I know all the other drivers will as well,” van Gisbergen said.
