After a few seasons of driving for his family-owned Triple F Racing squad, Western Australian Dean Fiore makes a major change for 2012 and joins Dick Johnson Racing.
Fiore brings along his #12 Racing Entitlements Contract (REC) under which his entry will run, though he will run in the colours of Jim Beam Racing in addition to the #17 Jim Beam car of Steven Johnson.
He retains the same Triple Eight-built FG Falcon that he’s raced for the last few seasons and hopes that being part of a four-car operation based at DJR in Queensland will help move him forward on the grid after a deflating 2011 season.
This year is Fiore’s fourth year as a full-time driver in the V8 Supercars Championship and he’s one of a crop of Western Australian drivers to join the V8 scene in recent years.
After starting his career in karting, Fiore moved into Formula Fords in his native state before becoming a challenger in the national series. He moved to Porsche Carrera Cup and finished second in the 2008 championship to Craig Baird, with a major highlight being a dominant round victory at Bathurst.
In 2009 he made his V8 Supercar debut in the season-opening Clipsal 500 in a Team Kiwi Commodore run by Paul Morris Motorsport. Eventually his family took over the TKR REC and continued to run a Commodore under the Triple F Racing banner with preparation from PMM.
In 2010 they established their own base on the Gold Coast and purchased the former Fabian Coulthard/Wilson Security Falcon to run under their own banner.
In 2011 he made his first Top 10 Shootout at Queensland Raceway and ran strongly in the top 10 at the L&H 500 at Phillip Island, proving he’s more than capable of mixing it.
