After an early switch from Holden to Ford in 2011, Tony D’Alberto returns for the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship for his first full season aboard a Falcon.

The 2007 Dunlop V8 Supercar Series champion made the move last year to a Ford Performance Racing-built FG Falcon with support from FPR and now lines up for his fifth straight season full-time in the V8 Supercars Championship.

After starting his career in karts and initially making the move into Formula Ford, D’Alberto by-passed a lot of the tradition learning time in the junior categories, stepping straight into the

Fujitsu Series in a Young Lions Commodore in 2003 at the tender age of just 17.

D’Alberto continued to be a regular in the Dunlop Series, running a Wynn’s-backed car in 2004 and then establishing his own family operation in 2005, the same year he made his V8

Supercars Championship debut as an endurance driver for Tasman Motorsport.

Having finally clinched the Dunlop Series crown in 2007, D’Alberto also had his best finish at Bathurst in the Autobarn Commodore, finishing sixth alongside Steve Owen.

His 2008 season in the Bottle-O Commodore proved to be difficult, as D’Alberto found that the step from the development category to the top level was indeed a steep one.

In 2009 he again competed in Bottle-O colours under the #55 Rod Nash franchise in a Commodore run by his family-owned team, with a top 10 result at Bathurst a major highlight as well as a seventh place at Sandown on the Sunday of the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge.

He ran under his own Centaur Racing banner in 2010, which changed to Wilson Security Racing in 2011 given the team’s change of sponsorship. This year the team will race under the banner of Tony D’Alberto Racing.
