V8 Supercars offer complimentary Campsites to 2012 event and track officials of the Sucrogen Townsville 400, Ipswich 300 and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. Camping information and forms will be available in the near future.
Volunteers do not require any previous Event experience, however they do need to be aged 15 years or older and be available both days of the weekend during the Event.
Listed below are the positions available and a short description of what each entails.
This facility is a hub of action. Event officials will assist with putting together uniform packs as this is the key point for distribution of uniforms and accreditation. This is the ideal role for those who love to interface with lots of people and enjoy being part of a team environment.
Corporate Facility Ushers meet and greet our corporate guests and are responsible for the access into these facilities. They are instrumental to the overall guest experience.
This role is responsible for checking the tickets for all those entering the venue and issuing pass-outs for all those exiting the venue with the intention of re-entering. So if you like the outdoors, this may be the job for you.
If you like being amongst it, then why not look at becoming a Grandstand Usher. This role is responsible for checking tickets, guiding guests to their seats and monitoring crowd behaviour.
Love to know everything? Or willing to give it a try! The Information Booth is where everyone goes to find out all there is to know about the Event and the precinct, such as directions, what’s on and transportation. So if you are good with people and love offering assistance, then this role is ideal for you.
The Media Centre is the principal location for all our accredited media personnel including journalists and photographers. This role is responsible for assisting our Media Manager and media guru’s with all their general administrative tasks.
If you’re an early bird, then this is the ideal role for you. Assist the team in distributing meals and drinks, coordinating sign-on for our team of Volunteers, including monitoring Volunteer absentees.
Track Official Positions
CAMS accredited Officials will be required to fill the following positions:
Fire and Rescue Marshals
Are trained fire and rescue marshals with extensive fire and rescue backgrounds, either through the motor sport experience or their background as professional or civil fire fighters. They are stationed around the circuit, in pit lane, or in mobile units under the direction of Race Control.
Flag Marshals
Sector Marshals: Are the team of senior trackside officials appointed by the Secretary of the Meeting in consultation with the Chief Flag Marshal. There is one in charge of each sector of the race track.
Communication Marshals: Comprises all the observers around the track. The team’s task is to observe all happenings around the circuit and report to race control over the trackside radio network system.
Flag Marshals: These are the officials appointed to each marshal post around the circuit to give flag signals to the drivers while they are on the track.
Track Marshals: These are the general marshals around the circuit, based at the marshal control posts. Their duties include almost everything possible, including rescuing drivers, assisting the fire and rescue marshals, sweeping the track and assisting the recovery team.
Grid / Pitlane / Paddock Marshals
Grid Marshals: Grid marshals are the marshals who set up the starting grid before each event, they also act the pit lane marshals.
Pit Lane Marshals: These marshals control vehicles and people in pit lane during events.
Paddock Marshals: Paddock marshals are pre-grid and help the drivers in the marshalling area to their correct positions, before they head out onto the track.
Medical Officials
Medical supplier is contracted by the promoter and have their own team of specialists they assign.
Race Control
Race control are senior officials appointed by the Secretary of the Meeting.
Recovery Marshal
The recovery teams and their assistants have the job of recovering the “dead cars” from around the circuit after each session or race and return them to the paddock, pit lane, or scrutineering bay as directed.
Scrutineer
The duty of a scrutineer is to check all the cars for safety and eligibility each day and to examine any cars involved in accidents. The scrutineers work from the support paddocks and the pit lane.
Supply Marshals
This is the team that distributes the trackside equipment to the sectors each morning and collects it each evening. In between these jobs, they can be asked to shift anything anywhere. To assist this team, one marshal at each control post is appointed the Post Equipment Marshal. Their job is to receive the equipment delivered each morning, allocate it to each marshal requiring it and ensuring its return each evening. They wait at the post for its collection by the supply team.
Timekeepers
Is the group of timekeepers working from the timing tower. Their task is to record the time of every lap of every car during all qualifying sessions and races to produce the printed results of each race. Limited positions are available at each race meeting.
