Event goers are eagerly anticipating this afternoon’s all-important V8 Supercar Top 10 shootout, after the final practice session was held this morning. A highlight off-track today has been a meet and greet with Roary the Racing Car and Big Chris the mechanic, along with V8 Supercar champion Craig Lowndes who has a new role as Conrod in series two of the children’s TV cartoon. Hundreds of V8 Supercars youngest fans flocked to the paddock to meet their heroes. FRIDAY QUALIFYING: Jason Richards and Cameron McConville finish fastest V8 Supercar fans were treated to a full day of action at the mountain as the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 continued at full speed today. Off-track, hundreds of fans turned out to the driver autograph session to get up close and personal with their heroes including Craig Lowndes, Russell Ingall, Troy Bayliss. The merchandise alley was also a hive of activity as many more thousands of people flocked to the event. The V8 Supercars hit the track for qualifying, with Team BOC combination of Jason Richards and Cameron McConville finishing fastest. A final practice session will take place tomorrow ahead of the exciting Top 10 shootout.

THURSDAY WHINCUP AND LOWNDES FASTEST Thousands of people have made the pilgrimage to Mount Panorama for four days of thrilling V8 Supercar action at the world famous Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. Day one of the event saw the TeamVodafone pairing of Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup finish fastest in the practice sessions. The duo are aiming for an unprecedented fourth consecutive victory at the mountain. The area around Mount Panorama has transformed into a sea of blue and red, with many event goers snapping up prime camping positions around the track. The full day of on-track action today featured the V8 Supercars as well as the five support categories – the Fujitsu V8 Supercars, Australian GT Championship, Biante Touring Car Masters and Yokohama V8 Ute Series. Off-track highlights included the popular Driver Autograph Session with 17 V8 Supercar drivers, the launch of the Telstra Bigpond ‘Bluey’ b-double truck and the launch of legendary driver Mark Skaife’s new book.
