A CHANCE to sit clearly atopthe all-time winning records sits before Craig Lowndes, ahead of today’s secondrace at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

Lowndes’ first win on thefamous Adelaide Parklands circuit yesterday drew him level with Mark Skaife on90 career V8SC / ATCC race wins – a win in today’s second race set to elevatehim to clear leadership as the most successful driver in series history.

Lowndes and Skaife each have90 wins, Whincup clear in third place on the list with 64 rounds.

“To be honest, I wasn’tthinking about it today,” Lowndes said.

“I knew I was one stop awayfrom equalling him, but I didn’t think about it - but, now knowing about it –it’s hopefully going to be satisfying when I beat it.

“Obviously today we had ahealthy gap but the competition isn’t that slow – it’s just that we were quitefortunate and the traffic worked for us. Will was quick, Fabian Coulthard wasquick and Shane van Gisbergen was quick but didn’t get to show it. Frosty wassecond and didn’t get to show it. I think tomorrow there will be more competitionin the race.

“If I do get the opportunityto beat it, I’m sure Mark will come down and thank me!”
