Multiple Australian Karting Champion, Formula Ford and Formula 3 race winner Kristian Lindbom will fill one of the seats at Evans Motorsport Group in the 2013 Dunlop V8 Supercar Series.
The 23 year old will drive in one of EMG’s FPR-built FG Falcons as the team embarks on its maiden season in the second-tier V8 Supercar Series.
After a promising V8 debut at the 2012 Clipsal 500 aboard a Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport Commodore Lindbom is looking forward to his first full season in a V8 Supercar.
“It’s a great opportunity and I’m really thankful for the team and my sponsors for the support and for having the belief in me,” said Lindbom.
“I’ve had a bit of a stop-start career over the last few years but I’ve never doubted my ability or the fact that if I worked hard an opportunity would arise.
“The car is a great piece of equipment and the fact that the team will be working closely with FPR made the decision an easy one.
“I’m under no illusions how competitive the series is but I’ll have equipment equal to the best in the field, I’ve got a great bunch of guys working on the car and I’ll be looking to challenge for podiums and wins as the season progresses.”
EMG owner Josh Evans was happy to make the announcement, the pair having a long-standing working relationship.
“It’s great to be able to give Kristian this opportunity,” said Evans.
“He’s worked closely with us over the last year as a driver coach in our Formula Ford program so it’s almost as if we’re promoting from within which is a nice feeling.
“He’s very underrated and looked like being one of those drivers that never got the opportunity that he deserved so we’re really happy to have him driving one of our cars.
“We’re all working really hard and looking forward to getting on track at the end of the month.”
Lindbom’s FG Falcon will be supported by Urban Energy, Fast Track Communications, EarthEx Logistics, Zagami Transport, Aviation Components Sevices and OzStaff.
