Sonic Motor Racing Services have confirmed this year’s two-car Bob Jane T-Marts V8 Supercar Development Series team as Rodney Jane and Garry Jacobson.

Seasoned racer Jane will again saddle up in the #777 Triple Eight Race Engineering FG Falcon but rising Victorian youngster Jacobson steps up from his Sonic Formula Ford to the thumping V8’s this time.

“I certainly think Garry is ready for this, and he’s more than capable of meeting the challenges,” says Sonic principal Michael Ritter, “he’s been pretty hands on with us over the last year with the DVS program so he’s hardly coming in out of the cold. I think it’s an opportunity that he’ll grab with both hands.”

The step up to DVS puts a positive spin on last season that ended in spectacular and painful fashion when the 20-year-old Shepparton speedster crashed and broke his arm at Mt. Panorama Bathurst during the SCA 1000 weekend.

It would turn out to be his last Formula Ford appearance.

“I’ve been working very hard on regaining 100% fitness with Phil Young and training hard in Queensland since the accident and after my recent test session in the car last week I feel like I’m where I need to be at,” concedes and obviously excited Jacobson.

Garry has just completed two further days of testing at Winton in the build up to the looming first round of the Dunlop Series at The Clipsal 500 at the end of the month.

“Obviously I’m keen to get as many laps in as I can. These cars require such a different driving and fitness discipline to Formula Fords and Aussie Cars so the more track time I can get in the better off I’ll be come Clipsal time obviously,” Garry concedes.

Jacobson is delighted that his Dunlop Series debut will be under the watchful eye of Michael Ritter.

“I’ve really trusted Mick with my career since joining the Sonic Family, and that’s really what it is, a family. I know that the Sonic Team are the best to guide me through this first season and hopefully well beyond that. I’m working closely with my engineer and all our mechanics at Sonic and it’s really a natural extension of what I’ve been doing with them up until now anyway. It’s a very exciting time of my life and I can’t wait to get started,” the youngster grins.

The Adelaide Street Circuit is one that Jacobson knows very well, having competed in Aussie Racing Cars and Formula Ford on three different occasions.

“The Clipsal 500 is one of my favourite events (it also ties in with his 21st birthday at this year’s running) because of the atmosphere, the track, the music and everything that goes with it. I can’t think of a place that I’d rather start my V8 Supercar career at.”

The world is very much at Garry Jacobson’s feet as he joins Rodney Jane in the identical Bob Jane T-Mart FG Falcons for 2013.
