Biography

Son of former racer Steve Webb, Jonathon Webb made a real impression on his debut season as a full-time driver in the V8 Supercars Championship last year.

Not only was he the only driver to finish all 26 races and each and every lap of every race, but he broke through for his maiden victory in the wet on the Saturday at a nail-biting Sydney Telstra 500.

His win came from 21st on the grid, the lowest grid position for a race winner in the 51-year history of the Australian Touring Car/V8 Supercars Championship and his 13th place finish in the championship was the best effort by a Fujitsu Series champion in their first year of ‘main game’ competition.

In 2009 he paired with Matthew White’s Melbourne-based team and took an ex-FPR/Steve Richards Falcon to the Fujitsu Series title, clinching the crown in the final round at the Sydney Telstra 500.

After beginning his career in Porsche Cup racing, Webb moved into the Carrera Cup when it kicked off in 2003 and remained in the all-Porsche series through to the end of 2006.

Webb made his V8 Supercar debut alongside Marcus Marshall at Sandown and Bathurst in 2006 for Paul Cruickshank Racing.

He made the move into the Fujitsu Series in 2007 in an ex-Marcos Ambrose Falcon for Stone Brothers and again drove for the Glenfords team in the endurance events alongside retiring legend John Bowe.

After finishing fourth in his first season in the Fujitsu Series, Webb returned for a second season in the development series in ’08 in an SBR Falcon. Victory in Race 1 at Bathurst and second for the weekend proved to be a season highlight before he ultimately took last year’s crown in his third season.

This year he retains the same ex-Craig Lowndes Falcon as 2010, however now run under the Tekno Autosports banner in their own premises.
